The Banner has garnered numerous awards for editorial content, advertising and design, including the prestigious Newspaper of the Year Award from the New England Press Association. In 2000, the Banner acquired the publishing rights to the (Provincetown) Advocate and the Wellfleet Advocate; the Provincetown Banner and the Advocate are now published as one combined paper.
